Chicago Hospitality Resource Partnership

A vibrant evening and late night economy is a central element of Chicago’s evolution into a global city. Development of pedestrian-oriented entertainment business districts with theatres, nightclubs, cafes, restaurants and retail shopping is being matched by an increase in city housing and growth in tourism and conventions. However, residents and businesses are sometimes conflicted with these trends in many neighborhoods. Successful co-existence requires a seamless communication among four primary stakeholder groups – hospitality, safety, development and community.

The Chicago Hospitality Resource Partnership (HRP) held its first formal organizational meeting in October 2005 to better plan, manage, and police Chicago's "hospitality zones" which are often as active in the late evening hours as the daytime. Cooperation and consensus-building among the stakeholders will maximize economic, employment, and social benefits to all demographic groups while reducing risks to public safety and impacts on the quality of life of residents.

The HRP is administered by the Responsible Hospitality Institute (RHI) with funding provided by the Diageo Foundation and other RHI underwriters.
