Hospitality zones are areas in a city with extended hours, a high concentration of dining and entertainment businesses, active street life and a center of events and celebrations. This new style of socializing necessitates a paradigm shift.  Thursdays through Saturdays are high intensity periods that place greater demands on staffing and operations as they are currently defined.  This new brand of "event" requires a new approach to policing and a new brand of officer. Community policing in hospitality zones is a collaborative partnership among police, enforcement agencies, businesses, community organizations and residents, each with something to offer and something to take. The purpose is to reduce risk to public safety and impacts on quality of life through traditional law enforcement, prevention, problem-solving, and community engagement.
